There will be a P6 increase in electricity bill this month in homes due to rising generation charges.
According to the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) yesterday, the electricity charge will increase by P0.0278 per kWh to P8.891 per kWh this month from P8.8623 per kWh in February which is equivalent to P6 in typical house bills. consumption is around 200 kWh a month.
According to Meralco, the generation charge fell to P4.6632 per kWh this month from P4.5090 per kWh in February as prices fell to the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market of P1.0479 per kWh due to the outage of some plants so supply was tight. of electricity in the Central grid which increased its price.
According to Meralco, the increase in the charge is minimal because there are consumer refunds such as overrecoveries in pass through charges and a one-time adjustment to universal charge-NPC stranded contract costs. Refunded overrecovery from January 2012 to October 2013 will be charged within three months. For residential customers, it lowers the charge by 5 cents per kWh. It will also decrease by 14.53 cents per kWh due to the rate reversal ordered by the Energy Regulatory Commission from the over-collection for Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corp.
Meralco made it clear that it only passes pass through charges and only collects consumers.
