We now feel the moment of crisis caused by the COVID-19 threat. Some of our countrymen are also lamenting the lack of adequate food supplies in their homes, as part of the prevention of the virus is currently implementing “enhanced community quarantine” throughout Central Luzon and other parts of the country. country.
As a result, most large establishments are temporarily closed, vehicles prohibited from traveling, and people are advised to stay only in their homes as much as possible, so it is not easy for some to find affordable housing. needs.
To solve this problem, the Pasay Local Government Unit (LGU) in cooperation with the Department of Trade and Industry will launch the Rolling Stores, according to Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano. The exact date when it will begin is uncertain.
According to the Pasay City Public Information Office, the said "rolling stores" of Pasay and DTI will be circulating in 201 Barangay in Pasay City to sell fish, meat, vegetables and other basic needs of the people, whose price is much lower than in supermarkets or groceries.
In addition, the city will use 20 Mitsubishi L-300s and 100 e-tricycles for LGU frontliners including health workers. Such vehicles may also be used temporarily to transport disabled and senior citizens to the hospital or clinic for their check-ups. This is while the whole of Central Luzon is under quarantine and some public transport is still suspended.
About 100,000 food packs are also expected to be distributed to the LGU at 201 Barangays in Pasay City next week, which will be delivered by Barangay officers to the families of their constituencies.
Incidentally, this is a great help to our countrymen during this time of pandemic.
