House Bill 5477, the Malasakit Program Act is now being approved by the House of Representatives on the third and final reading.
The vote came out 185 congressmen voted yes, seven abstained and only one who voted against it, no other than Congressman Edcel Lagman.
It has been known to the public that this is the guy who criticized Senator Bong Go for initiating this Malasakit project to help the poor and the needy. But since Lagman is a member of the opposition, he voted against it.
Lagman said that this bill is a partisan move, not really sincere and only done to boost his popularity as Senator. To him it is politically motivated and not really done for sake of the poor.
Senator Bong Go responded with dismay and anger, saying ,Lagman is a bad congressman, a bad politician. Senator Manny Pacquiao even agreed and share the same sentiments as Sen Bong Go.
Netizens in social media expressed anger to Lagman with the news that he voted against it. Many agree with Sen Go which he said before that Lagman is anti-poor.
Some speculated that Lagman was angry about the Bill because he was not part of it and that he can't get a kickback out of it. Other netizens just make a laughing stock out of the Congressman.
As of posting, there are already 49 Malasakit Centers open all over the country.
